Atalanta will be looking to maintain their unbeaten run when they welcome Venezia to the Gewiss Stadium for the 15th Serie A round on Tuesday night with kickoff at 20:30.
Atalanta BC found ways to build on their impressive campaign last season as the club has made a strong campaign this season so far claiming eight wins from their 14 matches while four draws and two defeats in the process. They proved themselves last weekend when they sealed the first victory against Juventus in Turin for more than 30 years. Duvan Zapata’s first-half strike was the ultimate difference at the Allianz Stadium as Atalanta eked a 1-0 success over Juve securing a place among the current top four in the Serie A standings. Also the win saw Atalanta strode seven points clear of the struggling Juve and extended their unbeaten run to a total of eight games across all competition.
The Bergamaschi will then be looking to build on their victory over Juve as they head into in the midweek fixture and Gian Piero Gasperini will expect his side to be confident enough against a newly-promoted Venezia. However, Atalanta’s home form has not been as convincing as their away form this season as they have only claimed two victories at Gewiss Stadium while have claimed six victories on the road.
Venezia meanwhile being a newly-promoted side have done well for themselves as a run of four wins, three draws and seven defeats has them sitting five points clear of the drop zone in the 16th on 15 points.
The Arancioneroverdi however, could not extend their winning run to three matches in the Serie A when Inter came calling to the door last weekend. Having won their last two games to rise away from the drop zone, Venezia at least welcomed the reigning champions to Stadio Pier Luigi Penzo with some hope of pulling off a seismic shock, but Simone Inzaghi’s dominant side that fired 27 shots at goal came out with a 2-0 success on Saturday night.
Venezia though will be looking to build on their win against Roma as they face another top-four side on Tuesday and will aim at faring better on this occasion as they face Verona, Juventus and Lazio in their coming matches.
