Atalanta BC vs Torino Match Analysis and Prediction

Atalanta BC will go head to head with Torino at the Gewiss Stadium for their Serie A encounter on Thursday evening.

The two teams have made similar starts to the new season, picking up seven points from their opening three league matches.

After playing out a 1-1 draw with title holders AC Milan, Atalanta bounced back to winning ways when they claimed a narrow 1-0 victory away at Hellas Verona last weekend.

Teun Koopmeiners scored the only goal of the game from outside the penalty area five minutes after half time, with the visitors holding on to secure their second consecutive win away from home this season.

It would be fair to say that Atalanta’s last two meetings with Torino on home soil have been eventful, as a 3-3 draw in February last year was followed by a 4-4 draw in April.

However, Gian Piero Gasperini’s side have failed to win any of their last seven Serie A matches at the Gewiss Stadium as well as each of their last four home fixtures against Torino.

Either side of a goalless stalemate with Lazio, Torino have picked up maximum points against newly-promoted sides Monza and Cremonese, defeating both teams away from home by a 2-1 scoreline.

II Toro are one of seven top flight teams level on points at the top of the table, and have now extended their fine away record in the Serie A to seven matches, including four consecutive victories.

Ivan Juric’s side will be looking to extend their winning run on the road in Serie A to five matches for the first time since 1946 when they face Atalanta on Thursday.

However, they will need to strengthen their backline if they are to improve their chances of claiming maximum points against La Dea at the Gewiss Stadium on Thursday.

Atalanta BC news

Atalanta defender Berat Djimsiti is set to be sidelined for a lengthy spell with a fractured leg, while Jose Luis Palomino is still suspended after failing a doping test.

Left wing-back Joskim Maehle will be hoping to force his way back into the starting lineup ahead of Brandon Soppy for this contest.

Torino news

Torino’s summer signing Aleksei Miranchuk remains sidelined with a hamstring injury, which will leave Radonjic and Vlasic to continue in their attacking midfield roles.

Sasa Lukic returned to the substitutes’ bench last weekend after serving a suspension, and the midfielder will be hoping to be recalled into the XI on Thursday.

We are expecting goals to come from either side in this contest, considering 35 goals have been scored at an average of 5.8 per game over the last three seasons.

Atalanta will be slight favourites on home soil, but the visitors are sure to have enough to secure a point on Thursday.
