Both Aston Villa and Newcastle United will be looking to bounce back from their Premier League’s season opener defeats when they lock horns at Villa Park on Saturday with kickoff at 17:00.
Despite Aston Villa bolstering their ranks with the likes of Leon Bailey, Danny Inks, Emiliano Buendia, Ashley Young as well as Alex Tuanzebe on a loan deal, life without Jack Grealish did not start well for the hosts as they opened with a disappointing 3-2 defeat to the newly promoted Watford in a match that Villa were 3-0 behind in the 67th minute of the match.
John McGinn and Danny Ings scored the consolations goals for Villa in the final 20minutes of the match with the final third of Villa’s squad showing some positivity especial new signing Leon Bailey who impressed in his debut off the bench.
Villa will now head into Saturday’s clash with a win mind as they aim to prove they can cope with the loss of their talisman Jack Grealish who also had an opening weekend to forget as his new team Man City suffered a 1-0 loss to Tottenham.
Meanwhile, Newcastle also opened they season with a disappointing 4-2 defeat to west Ham in front of their own supporters last Sunday. The Magpies led in two occasions with 1-0 early first half and 2-1 lead at halftime but West Ham overcame them and scored three unanswered goals in the second half to salvage all the three points.
Manager Steve Bruce will now be under pressure going into second matchday as he aims to bounce back with a win here and end their winless run against Aston Villa at Villa Park since the last time they won here was back in 2013.
