Aston Villa will be looking make it back-to-back Premier League wins when the welcome a struggling Burnley to Villa Park for their latest league fixture on Saturday evening with kickoff at 18:00.
Steven Gerrard continued his impressive start to his life back to the Premier League as Aston Villa manager as his side overcame former manager Dean Smith at Norwich City with an impressive 2-0 in the mid-week fixture.
The win marked Aston Villa’s fourth win under the former Rangers Boss in their last six matches and they have only lost two narrowly to champions Manchester City and Liverpool. Gerrard argued that they could and should have gotten a point in each of the two.
He seems to have jolted Villa to an immediate reaction and they will be looking to build the momentum with back to back wins on bounce following their 1-0 defeat to Liverpool last weekend and with the side now in the mid-table Steve will be looking to climb further up the top-half.
Meanwhile Burnley returns to the action after their midweek action against Watford fell victim to late call-off due to a Covid-19 outbreak within Watford’s squad. Burnley will now head into the match with two games in hand.
Sean Dyche’s side has avoided relegation since returning the England’s big time in 2016-17 campaign. Last season they finished with just one place above the relegation but had a huge gap of 11 points between them and danger zone.
This season Burnley have been involved in the relegation battle since the start of the season with club struggling to post wins and have only managed one win from their 15 matches so far picking up eight draws and six defeats in the process. They currently still sit in the relegation zone in the 18th on 11 points.
However, they are just two points adrift of safety with two matches in hand, therefore they still can salvage their season but will need to start posting victories for that to be possible.
