Brentford will be looking to maintain their terrific unbeaten start to the their first ever Premier League campaign when they travel to Villa Park on Saturday to face the big-spending Aston Villa in the third round of the English top tier with kickoff at 17:00.
Brentford made an impressive start to their 2021-22 Premier League campaign with a well deserved 2-0 win over fellow Londoners Arsenal before claiming a point at Crystal Palace last weekend. Currently they are eighth with four points in league standings and their aim this campaign is to survive the league.
The feelgood factor in West London continued last Tuesday when the Bees claimed a routine 3-1 win over Forest Green at Brentford Community Stadium. Second half goals from new signing Yoane Wissa, Bryan Mbeumo and Marcus Forss saw Thomas Frank’s side comeback from a 1-0 deficit in the first half to end the game 3-1.
The Bees now travel to face Aston Villa in a tough and exciting fixture where they will be looking to maintain their current good form and their impressive run against Villa who have notrecorded a win against Brentford since 2016.
Meanwhile Aston Villa have splashed out around £95 million to replace the not-easily replaced Jack Grealish who left for Manchester City this summer.
Life without Grealish started in the worst possible way for Villa as they lost 3-2 to newly promoted Watford on the opening weekend. However, Dean Smith’s side found their groove at home last weekend when they beat Newcastle United 2-0, with El Ghazi and Danny Ing’s stunning overhead kick sealed Villa’s first win of the season earning them the crucial three points.
Aston Villa head into the Saturday’s fixture off an emphatic 6-0 win over Barrow in the second round of EFL cup with the young Cameron Archer firing home three times to claim a hattrick, while Anwar El Ghazi scored a brace and Frederic Guilbert also made the net ripple.
Villa are in a good home form as they have won all of their last three home matches in a row and will be looking to maintain the momentum tomorrow as they aim for a top six finish.
