Arsenal will play host to Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday, as they look to continue their race of a top-four finish in the Premier League.

Both teams picked up 2-0 victories at the weekend, as the Gunners defeated Leicester City while the Reds sank Brighton & Hove Albion.

Arsenal ensured that they would end the weekend still regarded as the favourites for the fourth and final Champions League performance with a clinical showing against the Leicester City.

Thomas Partey’s second goal for the club saw the Gunners break the deadlock after just 11 minutes against the Foxes, and Alexandre Lacazette secured the result from the penalty spot in second half after Caglar Soyuncu’s handball.

The Gunners have now risen back into the top four ahead of Manchester United and are one point clear of the Red Devils with three games in hand.

Mikel Arteta has now overseen an outstanding run of five consecutive Premier League victories, and fourth place is certainly theirs for the taking after a dramatic turnaround in fortunes from their miserable August.

Robert Sanchez managed to evade a red card for his challenge on Luis Diaz in a way that is beyond comprehension, but the Brighton goalkeeper could only watch the ball flow into the back of the net as Diaz put his body on the line for the team.

Mohamed Salah proceeded to score his 20th Premier League goal, as he scored from the penalty spot after Yves Bissouma’s handball at the Amex Stadium.

That victory marked an eighth Premier League win and third Premier League clean sheet on the bounce for the Reds, who have also succeeded in each of their last five on the road in all competitions, and they now face the Gunners who have failed to score in five consecutive meetings with Liverpool since September 2020.
