After crossing the Atlantic, Arsenal and Everton square off in the Charm City Match as part of their pre-season preparations in Baltimore on Saturday with kickoff at 2 am.
Arsenal kicked off their pre-season campaign with a hard-fought 5-3 win over Nuremberg in Germany on Friday. Mohamed Elneny scored one of the goals of the season, new signing Gabriel Jesus scored within 90 seconds of coming on as a substitute and also bagged two more to round off an impressive debut performance.
Former Everton boss Mikel Arteta has now overseen two wins from two games so far this summer, and there will be plenty more opportunities for him to experiment with his squad as they continue their preparations for next season before their Premier League opener against Crystal Palace on August 8th.
It was not to be, however, as Everton somehow managed to retain their place in the Premier League by the skin of their teeth during a troubled 2021-22 campaign.
Only James Tarkowski has arrived so far, and a plethora of recognisable names will no longer don the Toffees shirt: Fabian Delph, Cenk Tosun, Gylfi Sigurdsson, Jonjoe Kenny and £60m Tottenham Hotspur new boy Richarlison have all been released or sold by the club. Frank Lampard certainly ought to welcome a few more faces to Merseyside this summer.
