Arsenal will aim to continue their resurgence when they welcome a League one outfit AFC Wimbledon to Fly Emirates on Wednesday for the third round of the EFL Cup with kickoff at 21:45.
After a slow start to the new Premier League campaign Arsenal seem to be slowly turning the corner as they have now recoded back to back wins making it to three wins in four matches across all competitions and there improvement can be attributed to their recent improvement at the back as they kept clean sheets in all the three wins.
They currently occupy the 13th spot with six points in the Premier League standings and will head into the match in an average form as they have won and lost three of their last six matches across all competitions.
The Gunners made it to this round following 6-0 win against West Brom at away in the second round with captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang netting a hat-trick. Mikel Arteta and his side will now be looking to replicate the results from the last stage into this clash where they are the clear favorites as they are expected to have too much for the League One outfit.
Meanwhile AFC Wimbledon have made it this far in the Carabao Cup after overcoming both Charlton Athletic and Northampton Town by a 1-0 in both matches in the first and second rounds of the competition.
Mark Robinson’s side will head into the match of the back of a 1-0 win over Plymouth in a League One fixture on Sunday and they have been currently in a good form with three wins from their last four matches.
Wimbledon would like to push further up the competition but will struggle to make that true as they face an Arsenal side that plays two tiers above them.
