Galatasaray will be ending their disappointing 2021-22 Super Lig season to a close on Friday, with the Istanbul giants making a trip to Antalya Stadyumu to take on Antalyaspor.
The hosts are currently seventh in the table, seven points ahead of their Friday’s opponents, while Galatasaray occupy 11th position, 30 points behind champions Trabzonspor.
Nuri Sahin’s side finished 16th in the Super Lig last season, but they are currently up in seventh postion in the table, boasting 58 points from their 37 matches this season, winning 16, drawing 10 and losing 11 times in the league.
Antalyaspor enter the contest off the back of successive victories, having defeated Konyaspor 3-2 on May 9 before claiming a 4-2 victory over Kasimpasa last weekend.
The Scorpions have been strong on home soil this season, winning 10, drawing five and losing three of their 18 matches to collect 35 points, which is the fifth-best record in the division.
Antalyaspor, who have been present in the Super Lig since 2015, have not actually defeated Galatasaray in the league since April 2016, suffering a 2-0 loss in the reverse fixture ealier this season.
Meanwhile, Galatasaray are 22-time Super Lig champions, while they have finished as runners-up on another 11 occasions, including last season, when they lost out to Besiktas despite finishing level on points with their rivals.
Domenec Torrent’s side have not finished lower than sixth in Turkey’s top flight since 2011, but they are currently in 11th spot in the table, having won 14, drawn nine and lost 14 of their 37 matches to collect 51 points.
Galatasaray, who have only won four times on their travels in the league this season, competed in this season’s Europa League, with their journey ending in the last-16 stage of the competition, losing 2-1 on aggregate to Barcelona.
