Two teams in the bottom half of Ligue 1 table will be getting back to action when Angers will welcome Troyes to the Stade Jean-Bouin on Sunday afternoon.

The hosts are currently sitting 12th in the Legue 1 standings with 26 points from their 20 matches this season, while Troyes have collected 20 points from their 21 games, which has left them 15th, 3 points above 18th placed Lorient.

Despite going one man down in the 14th minute and failing to register a single shot on target throughout the game, Angers managed to hold on for a goalless draw away at Lorient last weekend.

Gerald Baticle will have been impressed with his side’s fitness levels and resilience to claim a point, considering it was their first game in 25 days.

That result saw Angers’ run of three successive defeats across all competitions come to an end, and has moved them nine points clear of the relegation zone with a game in hand.

Following a bright start to the campaign, winning four and drawing four of their first nine league matches, the Black and Whites have since won just two of their last 11 games and have slipped eight points behind the European places.

Meanwhile, Troyes ended a run of five games across all competitions without a win when they secured a narrow 1-0 away victory against 10-man Montpellier on Wednesday.

Bruno Irles’ side were initially hanging just one point above the relegation playoff position, and even though they remain in the 15th position, they have now moved three points clear of danger.

Last year’s Ligue 2 champions will now be looking to secure successive away victories in the top flight for the first time since they did between September and October back in 2001, when they face Angers on Sunday.
