Ajax vs Vitesse Match Analysis and Prediction

Defending champions Ajax will be hosting Vitesse at the Johan Cruyff Arena on Wednesday as both teams will be looking to secure a place in the last four of the KNVB Beker.

Both teams had an encounter in last season’s final of the competition with Ajax taking a 2-1 victory to secure a 20th crown in April.

The hosts are currently sitting first in the Eredivisie table on 51 points from 21 matches, while Vitesse are 6th with 36 points, 10 points behind second-placed PSV.

Ajax started their title defence with a 4-0 victory over Barendrecht before running out a 9-0 winners over Excelsior Maassluis on January 20.

The above-mentioned victories are part of a seven-game winning streak which Erik te Hag’s side are currently on off the back of a 3-0 victory over Heracles on Sunday, which saw them move five points clear at the top.

De Godenzonen took the lead in the first half through Davy Klaassen before second-half goals from Sebastien Haller and Kenneth Taylor secured the victory.

Ajax now turn their focus to another potential opportunity for silverware as they take on a side they have defeated in seven of the last eight encounters.

Erik ten Hag’s side also secured an impressive 5-0 victory in the most recent encounter and will sure be confident of another firm display here.

Meanwhile, Vitesse have lost back to back games for the first time this season following a 3-0 loss against FC Twente on Saturday.

These defeats have come off the back of a 10-game unbeaten streak in all competitions which Vitesse had enjoyed prior their loss to Groningen on January 22.

Geel en Zwart must now pick up some form as soon as possible ahead of daunting trip to an unfarmiliar ground where they have not been impressive recently.
