AFC Wimbledon vs Reading Match Analysis and Prediction

Reading will be taking their fourth match of pre-season when they travel to Cherry Red Records Stadium to face AFC Wimbledon.

While the hosts will be preparing themselves for a League Two promotion bid, Reading are making themselves ready for a Championship campaign.

Following their relegation from the third tier of English football, Wimbledon will be looking to return to League One at the first attempt this season.

Wimbledon have recorded mixed results in their preparations, with their opening three friendlies yielding one victory and two defeats.

They managed to see off Bedford Town by a 2-0 scoreline before suffering a disappointing 1-0 defeat against Eastbourne Borough.

After two matches against non-league opposition, they faced a football league outfit on Saturday, but it proved to be a tough contest where they eventually lost 3-0 to Ipswich Town.

Ahead of his first season as Wimbledon head coach, Johnnie Jackson will be hoping the Dons can gain confidence in their final two friendlies against Reading and Oxford United.

Paul Ince was rewarded for his efforts by being named Reading manager on permanent basis, having kept the Royals in the Championship last season.

Ahead of the 2022-23 campaign, Reading have already tested themselves in three pre-season friendlies against varying levels of opposition.

They managed to pick up a 2-0 win over Colchester United before suffering a 2-0 defeat against Portuguese giants Benfica in their second pre-season game.

The level of opposition did not get any easier on Saturday when the Royals hosted West Ham United, where they managed to hold the Premier League side to a 1-1 draw.

After that encouraging performance against West Ham, Reading will have taken some positives from that occasion, and they now prepare for this contest before taking on Brighton & Hove Albion in their final friendly of pre-season.

AFC Wimbledon news

Wimbledon took to the field without Lee Brown and Aaron Cosgrave against Ipswich on Saturday due to injury issues, and the pair are expected to remain sidelined on Tuesday.

Kyle Hudlin could make his first appearance for Wimbledon after he recently arrived from Huddersfield Town on a season-long loan deal.

Reading news

Yasin Ben El-Mhanni and Nesta Guinness-Walker are currently on trial with the club, and they are expected to be given the chance to impress Ince in this contest.

Shane Long could also be included in the squad after making his first appearance on Saturday since returning to the club for a second spell.

Prediction and Odds

AFC Wimbledon have already lost twice in their pre-season matches, including to a non-league side and it is difficult to back them to come away with all three points on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Reading have already seen off the opposition of a League Two side this month, and we think the will emerge victorious.
