AC Milan vs Spezia Match Analysis and Prediction

AC Milan will be hosting Spezia at San Siro on Monday looking to make it four Serie A victories in a row in their campaign to challenge for the title.

The hosts are currently sitting second in the table, just a point behind leaders Inter Milan, while Spezia are at 16th position, just three points clear of the relegation zone.

AC Milan have not won Serie A since 2011, but they are currently firm in the title picture at this stage of the season, having picked up 48 points from their opening 21 matches.

They are 10 points clear of fifth-placed Juventus, and will be looking to secure a top-four spot, having been second behind Inter last season.

Stefano Pioli’s side have won their last three Serie A matches, defeating Empoli, Roma and Venezia, since falling for a 1-0 home defeat to Napoli on December 19.

They were also victorious in the Coppa Italia on Thursday, with a 3-1 win over Genoa, and they will need another victory on Monday in order to stay in touch with leaders Inter.

As for Spezia, they will enter the contest off the back of a 1-0 victory over Genoa last weekend, where Simone Bastoni scored the only goals of the match.

They have now won two of their last three matches in the league, losing just one in the process, which has left them into 16th, with a record of five wins, four draws and 12 defeats from 21 matches.

Thiago Motta’s side are only three points clear of the relegation zone, and they face a challenge to secure their spot in Serie A for another season.

Spezia lost 2-1 to AC Milan when they last met at Stadio Alberto Picco earlier this season, but they had won 2-0 at home during the 2020-21 season.

However, Motta should have a strong squad to choose from after they managed to recover those who recently tested positive for coronavirus. They could line up in a 4-4-1-1 formation for the Monday’s contest.

Prediction and Odds

AC Milan enter the contest looking to win and stay in touch with Inter Milan, and we expect them to have the quality to defeat their opponents.

Spezia have recently improved on the road, having won their last two away Seria A matches, but facing a tough opponent could see them lose the game.
