AC Milan will be desperate to return to winning ways when they welcome a relegation-threatened Genoa to San Siro on Friday for a crucial Serie A clash with kickoff at 2:00 EAT.
AC Milan have excelled this season, and have done well in their chase for their first Scudetto in more than 10 years as they, as they sit at the summit of the table with 68 points from 32 matches. However, Milan have slumped lately drawing their last two league matches against Bologna and Torino.
The draws have allowed their city rivals Inter Milan to close up on them as they now sit just two points above the champions, who have a game in hand.
With the league on its final straight, Stefano Pioli’s side will be under immense pressure to return to winning ways if they are to keep their two point advantage in the race for the title. Another slip-up here will be a fatal blow to their campaign, but they will be confident of returning to winning ways as they have won their last seven home encounters against Genoa, scoring two or more goals on six occasions.
Genoa on the other hand have made a minimal camping in Serie A this season with the side only managing to claim two victories from their 32 matches and are languishing in 19th on just 22 points, six points off the rock-bottom Salernitana. They are however level on points with the 18th-placed Venezia and three points adrift of safety.
They head into the match off back-to-back defeats to Verona and Lazio, Losing out 1-0 to Verona first on April fourth at away before surrendering to a 4-1 defeat to Lazio at home last weekend. With only six games remain to the end of the campaign Genoa need to bounce back to winning ways as possible if they are to keep their top-flight status next season.
However, having lost all their last three meetings with Milan and the Rossoneri being in same desperate need of the three points we don’t see the Red and Blues standing a chance here.
