AC Milan will be looking to extend their unbeaten run as they welcome a struggling Empoli to San Siro for their edition of Serie A Matchday 29 on Saturday night with kickoff at 22:45.
AC Milan are coming off a crucial and hard-fought 1-0 victory against Napoli with the in-form Olivier Giroud striking the only difference in the closely fought encounter.
They have now lost just one of their last 10 Serie A matches, claiming six wins and three draws in the process. It also saw Stefano Pioli’s men climb back to the top of the table and are now two points above local rivals Inter Milan, although Inter have played one match less than the Rossoneri.
They will therefore be looking to keep their status in the league standings with another positive result on Saturday, and they will fancy their chances as they are currently enjoying a fine home run, recording a five-match unbeaten run at San Siro and have kept four clean sheets in the run.
Meanwhile Empoli made a fine start to the campaign, but their season appears to be badly unravelling as they are currently winless in their last 13 matches across all competitions. as result they have dropped into 13th in the bottom half, although are still 10 points above the relegation zone and are in no present danger of being dragged in the survival scrap.
They are coming off a 0-0 draw against relegation-threatened Genoa in their previous Serie A encounter, ending their back-to-back defeats in the tier. They have struggled to score on their recent travels, failing to find the back of the net in their last three away matches.
Therefore, they need to work on their goal situation as well as they need to turn around their fortunes to avoid dropping further the table.
