Aberdeen will welcome Dundee United to Pittodrie Stadium in their opening fixture of the 2021-22 Scottish Premiership campaign on Sunday with kickoff at 17:00.
Aberdeen will be aiming to start off their new campaign positively following their fairly impressive campaign last season with a fourth-placed finish in the Scottish Premiership which earned them a place in qualification for the Europa Conference League. Aberdeen managed to enter the second round of qualifying following their 5-4 victory over Hacken on aggregate.
Stephen Glass’ side will face Breidablik next week in their final qualifying match before the group stage starts but for now, they will be fully focused on their opening league match that they will be looking to salvage all the three points against Dundee United who are keen to improve on their ninth-placed finish last season.
Meanwhile, Dundee United as mentioned earlier managed to escape relegation with a ninth-placed finish with 44 points only five points above Ross County who managed to stay to the top-tier after the relegation-promotion playoffs.
However, this time around manager Tam Courts and his side will be aiming to finish this campaign in the top six which would earn them a chance to challenge in the European football and they look set for this task following their impressive performances in the League Cup group stage where they have won all their four matches in group B.
Dundee United will fancy their chances of winning the Sunday’s clash as they are currently in a good form with a six-match unbeaten run including a four-match winning streak. Also, they have not lost in their last four away matches.
