Both Aberdeen and Celtic will be looking to bounce back to winning ways when they lock horns in Premiership matchday eight at the Pittodrie Stadium on Sunday with kickoff at 14:00.
Aberdeen made an impressive start to the season as they won their opening two matches but things have gone drastically downhill for the Dons who followed the opening wins with two draws before losing out the whole of September fixtures, meaning they head into the match of the back of three defeats in a row.
Stephen Glass’ side head into the match in a poor form having won none of their last eight matches across all competitions drawing just two and losing all the other six and are coming off a 3-2 defeat at St Mirren. The Dons had a 2-1 lead at half time through Scott Brown and Christian Ramirez but an early red-card in the second half saw Aberdeen eventually lose out.
Aberdeen will now be desperate for a positive result coming into the match and are only two behind their opponents meaning if the Dons win, they would be in the top six and thus, we should expect a real thriller in this clash.
Meanwhile, Celtic have made a rather unconvincing start to the 2021-21 Premiership campaign having recorded three wins, one draw and three defeats which has left them in the sixth spot with 10 points eight points behind group leaders Hearts and six behind fierce rivals Rangers.
The Hoops have also made a poor start to their European campaign as they have lost all of their two opening matches, losing 4-3 to Betis in their first match before the 4-0 home thrashing by Leverkusen in their second match. They are currently at the bottom of Group G of the Europa League with zero points and -5 goal difference.
Ange Postecoglou’s side head into the Sunday’s clash in a disappointing form as they have only won two of their last eight matches across all competitions and are coming off a 1-1 home draw against Dundee United and before that was the 1-0 defeat at Livingston and are as mentioned earlier six points behind Rangers. Hence the need for points is clearly needed.
