Almeria have a perfect chance for revenge in a repeat of last season’s semi-finals of the Segunda playoffs as they travel to face Girona in their first leg of this season’s playoffs this Wednesday at Estadi Montilivi with kickoff at 22:00.
Girona beat Almeria in last years semifinal but missed out on the promotion to La Liga as they lost 1-0 to Elche in the finals. However, Girona have been in an impressive form in recent weeks and this season generally as they have not lost in any of their last eight Segunda Liga matches and ended their seven-match winning streak with a 1-1 draw to Cartagena to book a place in the playoffs. They scored 13 goals and conceded only two goals in that run, showing that they are prepared at both the attacking and defending ends in the pitch.
Almeria on the other hand head into the playoffs off the back of two wins including the 0-2 win against Gijon, preventing Gijon form entering the playoffs. They also head into the playoffs with a revenge in mind as Girona knocked them out but will need to give their all as Girona have not lost any of their last seven home matches winning six in a row.
