Cody Gakpo – Netherlands

In a tournament filled with surprises, Cody Gakpo has been one of the biggest. Before the World Cup 2022, the PSV star was tipped for a big-money move to Arsenal or Manchester United.

He was on scintillating form in the Eredivisie with nine goals and 12 assists in 14 games. His form escalated by scoring in the Netherlands’ opening three World Cup games. Luis Van Gaal shifted him from the left flank to operate as a strike in the competition, which paid off.

The Dutch team is heading into their last 16 knockout matches against Argentina for a spot in the last eight. All eyes remain on Gakpo to help them advance further in the competition.

Tyler Adams – USA

The United States men’s national team has been eliminated from the World Cup, but their performances in their group stages campaign were nothing short of impressive.

One player who stood out was Tyler Adams, who took on the captain’s armband under coach Gregg Berhalter as a show of confidence in him. Despite the USMNT failing to make the last 16 knockouts, Adams created a name for himself on the stage.

He showed maturity on the field with a robust shift in their group stages campaign, and his adaptability to play full-back and midfield makes him an important aspect of his gameplay.

Pervis Estupinan – Ecuador

Pervis Estupinan, the Ecuadorean full-back, was one of the stars at this summer’s World Cup. His pace and skills on the left flank helped him produce some of his country’s best moments in their group-stage matches.

Estupinan was not only good while attacking but also wasn’t afraid to put in bold tackles when required. He put in a man-of-the-match performance in their 1-1 draw against the Netherlands, where he set up Ecuador’s goal with some excellent attacking play down the left flank.

Despite Ecuador failing to make it out of the group stage, they can take pride in having a player like Pervis Estupinan as part of their squad for World Cup 2026.
