Both Sassuolo and Roma will be looking to put behind their cup disappoints when they lock horns at the Mapei Stadium in the 25th Serie round on Sunday night with kickoff at 20:00.
Sassuolo have made a disappointing campaign this season with the club recording seven wins, eight draws and nine defeats from their 24 matches to collect 29 points which have left them sitting in the 12th spot in the standings with two points outside the top-half.
They head into the match in a poor form having only won one of their last five matches across all competitions and are coming off back-to-back defeats against Sampdoria (4-0) in the Serie A last weekend and Juventus (2-1) in the Coppa Italia last Thursday.
I Neroverdi will not feel the pressure of a relegation scrap now as they still are some nine points in the clear but a couple of poor results will leave them on the brink of a relegation battle which something Alessio Dionisi will not fancy and thus, they will look to bounce back to winning ways in the Sunday’s clash.
Meanwhile Roma have also had a good share of disappointments this season and have been struggling for consistency throughout the campaign and there erratic season continued in the midweek following a 2-0 loss to Inter Milan in the quarter-finals of the Coppa Italia. The defeat came just days after a disappointing 0-0 with Genoa in the Serie A.
As result Roma failed to break into the European places, but they sit outside the top six on goal difference as they are locked on 39 points with the sixth placed Lazio.
With six points separating them and the fourth-placed Juventus, Roma will be looking to quickly return to winning ways as the aim at breaking into the European places while climbing closer to the top-four. They will fancy their chances as they have a good record against Sassuolo having only lost once to their hosts in their last 17 encounters.
