Sevilla and Las Palmas will go head to head in a pre-season friendly as they continue their preparations for their next respective league campaigns this Thursday in Cadiz with kickoff at 20.00.
Sevilla head into the match off the back of a 4-0 win against Coventry City in their first pre-season friendly. This will Sevilla’s second friendly of the summer and Julen Lopetegui’s side will be aiming at building on what was a very positive 2020/21 campaign this time around. The Los Nervionenses finished last season in the fourth position with 77 points only nine points short of eventual La Liga winners Atletico Madrid but 15 points ahead of the fifth placed Real Sociedad.
Sevilla are the favorites in this friendly as they will not only be preparing for La Liga’s challenges but also Champions League’s unique challenges hence Julen Lopetegui will want to get his squad ready and tuned during this pre-season friendlies so they can hit the ground running.
Sevilla are set to meet PSG and then Aston Villa in their next and remaining pre-season friendlies before welcoming Rayo Vallecano to Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium for their 2021/22 La Liga opener on August 15.
Las Palmas on the other hand head into the match off the back of a 1-0 win against Espanyol and this will be their second match in two days as they continue to prepare for their next season in the Spanish second tier.
This will be the fourth successive campaign for La Union Deportiva in the second tier and they have never threatened to return to La Liga as they were 12-placed at the end of the 2019 campaign and have finished in ninth position twice now. Pepe Mel’s side will now be looking to build and improve on their ninth-placed finish last season as they aim to mount a serious promotion challenge.
The La Union Deportiva will face Wolverhampton Wanderers and Cadiz in their next friendlies before opening their 2021/22 campaign at home against Valladolid on August 15.
