Paris Saint Germain will lock horns with Bundesliga side Augsburg in their third pre-season friendly this Wednesday at the Parc des Princes Stadium with kickoff at 20.00
This will be PSG’s third pre-season fixture as they continue their preparations for the 2021-22 Ligue 1 campaign. PSG’s reign over Ligue 1 was brought to halt last season when they lost the title to formidable Lille who finished on top with 83 points only a point ahead of PSG.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side will be keen to return to their former glory this season and are currently preparing for it and so far, they have played two pre-season friendlies where they opened with an emphatic 4-0 win over Le Mans. However, Chambly gave them a quick reality check last Saturday in a game that ended 2-2 with Mauro Icardi and the teenage sensation Xavi Simons getting on the score sheet.
Paris Saint Germain will take on Genoa next Saturday in their final pre-season match before opening their next season at Troyes on August 8.
Meanwhile, Augsburg have also played two pre-season friendlies so far as they prepare for next Bundesliga campaign. Augsburg opened the pre-season friendlies with a 2-2 draw with Hamburg and then played out another 2-2 draw against Azerbaijan heavyweights Qarabag a game in which Augsburg had to come 2-0 down to end all square.
Augsburg will take on Greifswalder SC next in a German DFB Pokal match before opening their next Bundesliga campaign at home against Hoffenheim on August 14.
