Norwich City will welcome Huddersfield Town to their training ground for a pre-season friendly as they both prepare for the 2021-22 campaign. The match is scheduled on Friday with kickoff at 16:15.
This will be a unique match as it will involve three 45-minute halves with both managers looking to use as many players as possible as they view it as a valuable exercise ahead of next season.
Norwich earned their promotion to the Premier League after being crowned as the 2020-21 Championship champions and will be determined to build on that as they seek to finish in a good spot in the Premier League table. They have already played two pre-season friendlies, opening their preparations for the new season with a 3-1 win against King’s Lynn Town before winning a 1-0 over Lincoln City, with the new signing Pierre Lees-Melou scoring the only goal.
Daniel Farke will be aiming for another positive display on Friday but will be difficult to predict what to expect following the unique circumstances surrounding the match as both managers expected to use the opportunity to build the fitness of their players.
Norwich have been relatively busy in this summer’s transfer market with the club letting go of their main man during last season Emiliano Buendia but have brought in the likes of Milot Rashica, Ben Gibson and Angus Gunn as well as Billy Gilmour arriving from Chelsea on loan.
The Canaries will take on Gillingham and Newcastle in the remaining friendlies before welcoming Liverpool for their EPL opener on August 14.
Meanwhile, Huddersfield will be building towards the start of the new Championship season and so far they have already been involved in two pre-season fixtures, which saw them open their preparations for the new season with a 1-0 win against Harrogate Town before beating Southport 2-0 in the following match.
Carlos Corberan’s side finished 20th in the Championship last season but will be determined to change that this time round evidently through their past friendly fixtures and Corberan will expect another positive results in the Friday’s clash as they also prepare to take on Fleetwood Town in their final pre-season friendly.
The Terriers will be in their first competitive fixture on August 1 when they take on Sheffield Wednesday in an EFL Cup match before opening their Championship campaign with Derby County on August 7.
