This Friday Liverpool will embark on its first test against Mainz in a pre-season friendly match. This clash is scheduled to kickoff at 16:15 at Das.Goldberg Stadion.
Liverpool has played two matches in German so far, both matches against Stuttgart and Wacker Innsbruck ended in draw.
Mainz on the other hand stated their pre-season campaign with a victory over Wurzburger Kickers. Liverpool will be their second test and they are coming in strong and confident having won in their previous fixture.
Jurgen Klopp’s men first game this season will be against the lately promoted Norwich City on August 14 and are set to play friendlies with Hertha Berlin, Athletic Club and Osassuna before the season begins. He’s probably going to test his young players to find out whose fit for the upcoming campaign.
Bo Svensson’s side will be looking for a good result in this match despite their worst defense of all the teams last season. They will certainly stick to their attacking style of play to succeed against Liverpool.
Liverpool was much weaker last season; however they recorded victories in their last 5 league rounds to secure a place in the Champions League. On the other hand Mainz have firmly established themselves as a Bundesliga side over the last 10 years or so and claimed 12th in Germany’s top flight last season, picking up 39 points from their 34 matches.
We expect a strong duel with over 2.5 goals between the two teams.
