Germany returns to the Euro 2020 action on Wednesday against Hungary in the last fixture of Group F at the Allianz Arena with kickoff at 22:00.
Germany started off their Euro 2020 in a disappointing opener against France a game in which Germany lost 1-0 through an own goal. Lately they have not been the Germany that everyone feared as they have been on and off. However, they head into the match off the back of the thrilling 4-2 win against the tournament’s defending champions Portugal on Saturday, thanks to two own-goals from Ruben Dias and Raphael Guerreiro in the first half and goals from Kai Havertz and Robin Gosens in the second half. Cristiano Ronaldo and Diogo Jota scored the two consolation goals for Portugal.
The win against Portugal reminded us of the Germany we all once knew and feared, as they were hungry for goals and they were pressing so high and deep inside the box which led to Portugal scoring twice in their own net. They surely head into the Wednesday’s clash with massive confidence boost and they are the strong favorites to carry the day as they have a strong squad full massive talents that is capable of causing problems for the Hungarians.
Hungary on the other hand were spectacular against France, especially in the first half which ended with the Hungarians leading. The game ended in a 1-1 draw as France came to level things up in the second half but that felt like a win for Hungary considering the weight of the French squad and Group F in general.
Hungary now heads into their last fixture of Group F with massive confidence boost because they have to believe that after their 1-1 to France draw they can be able to actually salvage something from the Wednesday’s clash.
