After a dramatic defeat to Manchester United, Southampton will be looking to build upon it as they take a short trip to Brighton. The match schedules for Monday at the Falmer Stadium with kickoff at 11 pm.
A shocking 1-1 draw to Liverpool kept Brighton four points above the Premier League relegation zone.
The Saints headed into the first half with a 2-0 goal lead against Manchester United. It seemed like the Saints were on course for third place and extend their unbeaten run record to eight matches.
However, a second-half capitulation put a different spin to the case with the Saints currently sixth. The side has to deal with a slip up that could have granted the side with a sizeable advantage.
Southampton has proved to have issues in the final third with their backline so far open in recent matches. It started when the side conceded three times during the final quarter against Aston Villa on November 1. Even though a win would be pleasing for Ralph Hassenhult, managing a clean sheet while at it will be more satisfying.
The same can be said of Graham Potter who heads into the match losing just once in six matches all due to a good defensive output. A draw to Liverpool was proof in the pudding that the side is a hard side to beat at the back.
